Insure justice for Reggie Clemons

The Issue

Mr. Reggie Clemons has been sitting on Missouri’s death row for over 16 years, sentenced for being an accomplice in the death of two girls. Those who have studied the case believe in Reggie’s innocence. There is no physical evidence linking him to the offense. Reggie alleged that he was beaten into confessing and at his arraignment, was ordered to the hospital by the presiding judge. The girl’s cousin originally confessed and then stuck to a story impossible to believe. Jurors were improperly excluded and the prosecutor was guilty of serious misconduct. An appeals court overturned the death sentence but the Missouri Attorney General, now the governor, aggressively fought to have it reinstated.

Such involvement of the governor makes this case even more problematic. That’s why we are asking Governor Nixon to appoint a Board of Inquiry to independently investigate the facts of this case. When a man’s life is on the line, there can be no room for doubt.

Take Action: Write Governor Nixon and ask for an independent Board of Inquiry to investigate this case. Or you can read more here.

Mary AcostaPetition StarterI voted as a Democrate but I would love to see a third party come to fruition. After 5 years of working for the schools, lay offs have left me unemployed. Who got the bail out? Not the working families of America. So, now maybe people will get out and take a look at the status quo and what it has done to the poor. Also, there must be health care for all and justice for all. http://www.democracynow.org/2011/4/11/dont_punish_the_poor_economist_jeffrey
