Install Traffic Lights on Bowling Back Lane, Bradford

Install Traffic Lights on Bowling Back Lane, Bradford
The Issue
My family and I regularly cross Bowling Back Lane to get to Leeds Road, and we do so with trepidation. The junction at Bowling Back Lane, Bradford has become a hotspot for accidents because there are no traffic lights to regulate the flow of vehicles and ensure the safety of pedestrians and drivers alike.
The absence of traffic lights means that vehicles often speed down this road without any prompts to slow down or stop for pedestrians. As a result, accidents have become far too common, putting the lives of many at risk. It is not just my family who feels this danger; many residents in Bradford share the same concern. The latest of these accidents occurred just today, a few hours earlier to me making this petition.
Evidently, intersections without traffic control measures are at a higher risk of vehicle collisions. Implementing traffic lights at Bowling Back Lane can significantly reduce accident rates by organising traffic flow and providing safe crossing points for pedestrians. According to the Road Safety Foundation, controlled intersections can decrease crashes by up to 80%.
Installing traffic lights is a feasible and necessary solution. It can be implemented with moderate effort and investment by the local authorities but its impacts can save lives and prevent needless injuries.
I urge the Bradford Council to prioritise the safety of its residents by installing traffic lights at Bowling Back Lane. Together, we can make our community safe for everyone who uses this road.
Please sign this petition to support this urgent call for action.
