Why this petition matters

Started by Kevin Narraway

The Rogers Centre (SkyDome) opened in 1989 and while the Dome opened to much fanfare, for the past several years Toronto baseball fans have endured the horror of the Dome's artificial foul pole nets along with many other compromises associated with the relics of a former multi-purpose stadium.

Since that time, our Dome has seen the Argos find a new home, a real dirt infield installed, the 100 level seats fixed in baseball configuration, and recently new turf which is glued to the concrete floor.

Fast forward to today and we're still living with haunting reminders of the former multi-purpose days of our Dome.

In 2022, the reality is that the Dome is now a baseball-primary facility and we fans deserve simple and acheiveable upgrades that help remind us that we're in an MLB ballpark rather than a facility that may host monster truck rallies or a wrestling event later that evening.

Real foul poles at the Dome are a simple solution. The Dome's foul nets are a cheap and conspicuous reminder that the Jays don't really have their own home, at least not yet.

Sign this petition to help convince Rogers to spend the few thousand bucks it might cost to install real, permanent, metal foul poles at the Dome. While we're at it, let's paint those new poles red as a throwback to the former Montreal Expos, Canada's second best baseball team.
