Install a Push Button Crosswalk at Queen St and St Patrick

The Issue

With the town of Lindsay growing rapidly, and many new residents moving here, Queen St has become almost impossible to cross at most times of the day due to vehicle traffic.

FACTS:

-Queen St is a major road coming into and out of Lindsay.

-There is no real safe spot to cross Queen St between Lindsay St N and Hwy 36.

-With multiple new subdivisions being built on both sides of town, this road is going to get drastically busier.

During the construction scheduled for King St and surrounding side streets, we suggest installing a push button/light crosswalk on the corner of Queen St and St Patrick during this construction.

There is already a crosswalk there; however, many drivers coming down Queen don't slow down for pedestrians; we have seen some very close calls being only a fews doors down. This would not only make it easier for the children and the mobility impaired, but all residents trying to cross Queen St when the crossing guards aren't on duty.

This petition will be submitted June 15th, 2024 to Ward 5 councillor Eric Smeaton.

There is already an inquiry about this issue opened with the city.
