Hi folks

I just met with Clement Lim, the Traffic Manager (North) for the City of Sydney today for a site discussion. He was helpful and receptive and agreed that the intersection at Boundary/Liverpool is hazardous and needs Council's attention.

Essentially, this portion of Liverpool Street is somewhat unfortunately constituted. It contains many service points, is in a flood zone, and the location of several trees makes a pedestrian crossing difficult to accommodate - but this is something the Council are keen to make happen. The works required to make the area more pedestrian friendly will be expensive (about $1.5m) and will take time.

Council is currently considering a number of options for the junction, including a roundabout, and improving the existing pedestrian crossing for Boundary St. Council is also going to add a pedestrian crossing to that awful Craigend/Ward Ave intersection, make Oswald lane a shared zone, and add a pedestrian crossing across Womerah Ave to Womerah Lane. These will all make the area much more pedestrian friendly and child-safe.

One of our local Councillors, Sylvie Ellsmore, is also aware of this issue and is concerned at the rate of progress. She is now looking into whether this project can be prioritised.
