Install a Gate Off Maitland Street in Cardiff

Install a Gate Off Maitland Street in Cardiff
The Issue
Residents of the Maitland Park area in Cardiff have expressed growing concerns over the misuse of the lane beside Maitland Park. This lane, currently serving as a through-way for vehicles, poses significant risks to the safety and welfare of the local community. Hence, we propose the installation of a gate off Maitland Street to address these pressing issues.
Firstly, the frequent use of the lane as a shortcut by cars is disrupting the peace and safety of the area. Residents have raised alarms about vehicles speeding past the entrance to Maitland Park. Particularly concerning is the slope where the path descends towards the lane, where vehicles pass at speed could easily lead to accidents and potential harm to pedestrians, especially children and the elderly who frequent the park.
In addition to safety concerns, the area is facing environmental challenges. There have been numerous instances of fly-tipping in the vicinity, leading to unsightly streets and potential health hazards. The installation of a gate could significantly deter illegal dumping activities by restricting unauthorized access and promoting a cleaner, safer environment.
This petition calls upon the Cardiff Council to take immediate action by approving the installation of a gate at the proposed site. Such a measure would not only improve safety by controlling vehicle access but also enhance the quality of life for residents by maintaining environmental cleanliness.
We urge everyone who cares about the safety and well-being of our community to stand with us. Sign this petition to show your support and help make Maitland Park a safer place for all.
