The Issue

As a concerned parent whose son attends St. Mary's High School at 431 Juliana Dr, Woodstock, Ontario, I have witnessed firsthand the dangers students face when crossing the road to and from school. The current lack of a designated crosswalk or proper signage not only endangers my child but also the countless other students who traverse this busy area daily.

Every day, students are required to navigate heavy traffic without the security of a crosswalk or even warning signs to alert drivers to their presence. With cars and school buses filling the roads during peak hours, it becomes a perilous task for children attempting simply to get to class or return home safely.

The solution is straightforward and necessary: installing a pedestrian crosswalk along with adequate signage to warn drivers of the school zone. Such measures will provide a clear and safe point where students and other pedestrians can cross, thus preventing potential accidents. Implementing these changes can become a critical step in safeguarding our children, reducing the risk of tragic incidents, and providing peace of mind for parents and guardians.

The safety of our students should be a top priority, and it is clear that action is urgently needed. I am calling upon the local government of Woodstock, municipal authorities, and the London District Catholic School Board to take immediate steps to install a crosswalk and proper signage at St. Mary's High School. By supporting this petition, you can help make our community safer for our children.

Please join me in urging the responsible authorities to prioritize the safety of our kids by signing this petition. Together, we can make a difference in ensuring a secure path for every child attending St. Mary's High School.
