Initiate the Transition to Electric Vehicles and Halt Deforestation Activities

Initiate the Transition to Electric Vehicles and Halt Deforestation Activities
The Issue
As an 11 year old deeply affected by the evidence and impact of climate change, it became impossible for me to sleep on a particularly hot night, confronted by the chilling reality of our rapidly warming planet. Witnessing trees, the lungs of our Earth, eventually disappearing, brings undeniable sadness and anxiety. Yet, hope and change are within our grasp. It's time to transition to electric vehicles and halt deforestation activities.
Decades of research reveal, on no uncertain terms, that electric vehicles significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional cars with internal combustion engines. According to the Union of Concerned Scientists, electric cars produce less than half the emissions of their gas-powered counterparts over their lifetimes. Furthermore, between 1990 and 2016, the World Bank states that the planet lost 1.3 million square kilometers of forests, an area larger than South Africa.
We call upon global citizens to make conscious choices for our environment, and to embrace electric vehicles as a part of their daily lives, decreasing the demand for fossil fuels. We also implore governments everywhere to adopt stringent policies towards deforestation. Let's safeguard our existing forests, restore those we've lost, and together face the challenge posed by climate change. Please join this cause, heed the call, and sign this petition.
