As a representative and member of the rising Indian community in Alberta, I am conveying a common concern that affects thousands of families in our province. Although Alberta is equipped with international airports, a significant missing link in their services persists - a direct flight from Edmonton to India. This issue is acutely felt within our community, as our population has notably increased in the province in recent years.

Currently, around four hundred thousand Indian families in Alberta must undertake long detour flights to Montreal or Toronto to eventually reach India. This lack of direct service inconveniences families and often creates unnecessary additional expenses and time-consuming travel.

Adding a direct flight to Kochi, Chennai, Bengaliru or any Indian International airport from Edmonton would significantly improve this situation, creating a more accessible gateway to home for thousands of Indian families residing here. If a direct link to Kochi—India, seems unfeasible, an alternative route to Delhi or Mumbai could also cater to the growing needs of our community.

By doing this, we can fortify the bonds between Alberta's and India's populations while acknowledging and meeting the growing needs of Indians in the area. Therefore, we strongly urge the concerned airlines and airport authorities to consider this request.
