Palm oil is a type of oil made from the fruit of the African Palm tree which originates from West Africa. It grows in any humid tropical climate. It is the most widely produced oil in the world and is exported from a lot of different countries, mainly Malaysia and Indonesia. It is used in almost all the products we buy from make-up and toothpaste to donuts and chocolate bars. However, it is a huge threat to wildlife especially the orangutan population. It creates tons of carbon pollution and is extremely harmful to the environment.  
 
Since 2009, Victorian Zoos have been campaigning to get the labelling laws changed in Australia so that the Palm oil is no longer disguised as ‘Vegetable Oil’. This is a very huge problem because it is putting a lot of lives in danger including ours! Many of the innocent creatures are dying because of this and we need to take action very soon. Studies show that as soon as a palm oil plantation is established, it starts to harm the environment, as it releases all the chemicals in the air and can cause air pollution. It can also harm local rivers and poison any animals and people in the area.
