I can't get a job. As a young person in Calgary, it's incredibly frustrating to see so few opportunities available for us. Youth unemployment rates are significantly higher than the national average, with many of us struggling to find work that can help us gain experience and support ourselves financially.

According to Statistics Canada, the youth unemployment rate in Alberta was 19.5% as of July 2021, compared to the overall provincial rate of 8.5%. This disparity highlights the urgent need for more job programs and initiatives targeted specifically at young people.

We need local businesses and government agencies to step up and create more entry-level positions, internships, and training programs that can help bridge this gap. By investing in our youth today, we can build a stronger workforce for tomorrow.
