In Colorado, the current daily purchase limit for cannabis is one ounce (28 grams) for adults 21 and older. However, this limit is proving to be restrictive for many users who rely on cannabis for medical purposes or who live far from dispensaries and prefer to make fewer trips. Increasing the daily limits would provide these individuals with more flexibility and access to their needed medication.

According to a study by the University of Michigan, patients using cannabis reported a 64% decrease in opioid use, demonstrating its potential as an effective alternative treatment (University of Michigan, 2016). Furthermore, data from Colorado's Department of Revenue shows that legal marijuana sales surpassed $1 billion in 2020 alone (Colorado Department of Revenue), indicating a strong market demand that could be better served with higher purchase limits.

We believe it's time for Colorado to revisit its daily purchase limits on cannabis.
