As the mental health crisis in the UK has worsened over the past few years, the Government must increase funding for Mental Health Services. More must be done in order to offer support to those who need it since too many people do not have access to suitable support networks.

As someone suffering from severe anxiety, I know how difficult it is to get proper support when it is needed. It has gotten to the point where just getting an appointment to see a counsellor can take up to eighteen weeks.

The fact that it has gotten to this stage is unacceptable. For people who are struggling, a four-and-a-half-month waiting time is far too long. The Government must take action now, or this crisis will only worsen as time goes on.

According to the latest Digital NHS statistics, 1.54 million people in the UK were corresponding with mental health services at the end of January 2022 alone. Given the current cost of living crisis, January 2023 is looking bleak.
