Increase Funding for the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre Alliance

Increase Funding for the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre Alliance
The issue
My life was saved by the research capabilities of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, a participant in the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) Alliance. The VCCC Alliance plays a crucial role in cancer research advancements not only locally but also globally. However, their work is at risk due to insufficient funding.
The VCCC Alliance brings together Victoria's leading cancer researchers and clinicians to share knowledge and resources with a unified goal - improving outcomes for cancer patients. Their work has led to groundbreaking treatments that have saved countless lives, including mine.
Yet despite this vital role, funding for the VCCC Alliance is not adequate to sustain its operations or support further breakthroughs. This lack of financial support threatens future progress in cancer research and treatment development.
We must remember that every dollar invested in medical research delivers a return of $3.90 in health benefits (source: Australian Society for Medical Research). By increasing funding for the VCCC Alliance, we are investing not only in our health but also our economy.
It's time we recognise and support the invaluable contribution of organisations like the VCCC Alliance to global health advancement. We urge policymakers and relevant authorities to increase funding for this vital institution immediately.
Please sign this petition if you believe that no one should be denied potentially lifesaving treatment due to lack of funds for medical research.
