Increase Funding for Affordable Housing for Low-income Families

The Issue

As a single, disabled mother, I face incredible challenges every day. My disability prevents me from working, leaving me and my child to survive on the limited benefits available to us. Like so many others in our community, we live on the edge, the terrifying precipice of homelessness waiting at our feet. Low-income housing options in our state are saturated with multi-year long waiting lists. We have sought for help from every resource and channel available to us, only to hear the words repeatedly "there's no more funds left to help."

The scarcity we face is a collective struggle among countless families. As per the National Low Income Housing Coalition, there's a deficit of 7 million affordable and available rental homes for extremely low-income renters. We are urging our representatives to recognize this crisis and act urgently. Securing affordable housing is not just about providing a roof over our heads, it's about ensuring the dignity, mental health, and overall well-being of our families.

We implore you, our public servants, to increase funding for affordable housing for low-income families. Allow us to transcend from survival to stability. We need proper housing to be accessible to all, not a privilege. Sign this petition to support our call for making affordable housing accessible for all, especially those of us who have nowhere else to turn. Sign today, to ensure a stable future for every family.
