Dandenong South is a critical industrial hub for Victoria, driving significant economic growth and providing thousands of jobs. However, its current transport infrastructure is failing the very people who power this engine. Despite having a train station, the area suffers from severe "last mile" connectivity issues. For many workers, students, and residents, the journey from the station to their final destination remains an insurmountable barrier to accessing employment and essential services.

Dandenong South, being a crucial node in the economic fabric of Victoria, deserves a transportation system that supports its growth and potential. The current radial-only rail network does not suffice the needs of this bustling industrial hub. Residents and workers spend countless hours in transit, leading to frustration and economic inefficiencies.

I propose that we shift to an orbiting grid model. While the implementation of this model is complex and requires substantial planning, it is not only feasible but essential for the sustained growth of Dandenong South. Such a system will alleviate congestion, reduce travel times, and improve accessibility, ultimately enhancing quality of life and economic productivity.

While large-scale rail reform takes time, our community needs immediate, low-cost solutions to bridge the gap.

The "Last Mile" Solution: We propose the establishment of a dedicated Dandenong South Exclusive Bus Hub.
Targeted Connectivity: This service would focus specifically on connecting local residents and the industrial community to solve the "last mile" problem.
Proven Success: Inspired by the historical success of routes like the Bus 800, this local initiative would provide essential access to work, schools, and hospitals without requiring massive infrastructure spending.

a significant improvement in transit efficiency and user satisfaction. The orbiting grid can seamlessly connect various industrial and residential areas, encouraging more sustainable and efficient transportation patterns.

The transformation of Dandenong South's public transport infrastructure is not just a necessity, but an opportunity to set a precedent for other growing regions. With stakeholder collaboration, phased strategic development, and community involvement, we can bring about this essential change.

Support this petition to urge the local government and transportation authorities to take decisive action. Let's shape a more connected and prosperous future for Dandenong South. Sign and help us drive this crucial initiative forward.
