One of the doctors in the Department of Medicine who is a new monthly customer was unable to find a parking space, so she parked on the curve. She saw a hospital police officer writing a ticket. When she explained that she didn't know she wasn't supposed to park there and she needed to see a patient, the officer continued writing the ticket and told her "now you can go save lives."
Another doctor got a ticket for parking overnight, even though he was on call. The garage manager says that the official policy of the garage is that monthly customers can park for 12 hours and if they exceed that limit their cars can be booted. Why, therefore, did the outgoing chief of Ob-Gyn park her Porsche with a dust cover in her personal VIP spot for 3 weeks in the spring while she went on vacation? The Porsche was not ticketed, booted, or towed.
Is this the kind of treatment we want from the administration and our hospital police? Or do we want the administration to fix the parking problems so that doctors can park in the garage that they are paying for? Why is there a double standard for the 52 people with VIP spaces versus the rest of us?
