The issue

My son was a victim of a knife-related assault, an event that has left him traumatized and our family in a state of constant fear. We never imagined being confronted with such violence in our community. Sadly, this isn't an isolated incident; knife-related crimes are rising, tearing families apart and undermining the sense of safety that every person deserves.

In recent years, there has been an alarming increase in crimes involving knives across the nation.

We are urging Pauline Richards MP Cranbourne VIC to implement stricter laws and policies that reflect this growing crisis. Our demands are simple but crucial:

1. Mandatory custody and no bail for any individual found guilty of using a knife to threaten, intimidate, or harm another person, irrespective of their age.
2. Ensure all perpetrators are held equally accountable, regardless of their background, and face appropriate legal actions.
3. Immediate review of current legislation to close loopholes that allow offenders to evade justice.

These measures are essential to deter others from carrying and using knives and to ensure that our streets and communities become safer for all of us.

Every person has the right to feel secure, whether they're walking home from work, sending their child to school, or simply enjoying a day in the park. We must send a clear message that violence has no place in our society, and those who threaten our sense of security will face serious consequences.

Please join us in calling for zero tolerance for knife-related threats and assaults. Together, we can push for changes that protect our families and uphold justice. Sign this petition to demand stronger action and to support a safer, knife-free environment.
