Implement strict penalties for sexual crimes

Implement strict penalties for sexual crimes
The Issue
I am a concerned parent of two daughters, wishing for them to grow up in a state that truly values and enforces women’s rights. Unfortunately, several of my family members, both male and female, have been victims of rape with no justice served. This personal experience has driven me to advocate for change in our legal system, where sexual crimes can occur without adequate consequences.
The current legal framework is woefully inadequate in addressing the gravity of non-consensual sexual contact and sexual violence. To create safer communities and deter perpetrators, it is crucial to enforce automatic death penalties for those guilty of committing non-consensual sexual contact and intercourse. These heinous offenses leave lasting trauma on victims and signaling that they are punishable by the severest penalty reflects their societal harm.
Moreover, we must impose a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years in prison without chance of parole for crimes such as voyeurism, unauthorized recordings, stealthing, drink spiking, indecent exposure, sexual harassment, stalking, sexual coercion, and grooming. These invasive actions contribute to a culture where victims feel violated and unsafe, often leading to long-lasting psychological damage.
Supporting such stringent penalties serves as both a strong deterrent and a clear message that these behaviors will not be tolerated. It is time to reform our justice system to ensure it protects victims and serves as a proactive advocate for women’s rights, safety, and dignity.
Let us push for a legal precedence that prioritizes justice for the victims and significantly reduces the chances of these dreadful acts being repeated. I implore you to sign this petition to drive legislative change. Let’s work together to create a society where sexual crimes are met with unyielding accountability and victims' voices lead to meaningful action.
