Every day, approximately 11,000 motorists pass through the N17  Despite its frequent use, the road lacks the necessary safety measures to protect those who travel on it daily. Nationally, in 2019, junctions were mentioned as an area of occurrence in 44% of fatal accidents according to road safety statistics (Road Safety Authority). On the N17  these statistics take on a more personal significance, as there have been numerous accidents reported on this road in the past five years. In order to prevent further tragedies, we urgently call upon our local government to implement vital safety measures at the N17 junction  with the L2214 Garrafrauns and Dunmore road. These may include clear signposting, speed limit enforcement and a ghost island. Sign the petition to send a clear signal to our decision-makers that we cannot wait for more accidents to demand action. The safety of our community members who drive  the N17 daily should not be compromised.
