Implement Large Print Menus and Programmes in Restaurants, Pubs, and Theatres

The Issue

Ten years ago, I was diagnosed with a visual impairment. Like millions of others worldwide who share my condition, simple pleasures such as dining out or attending a theatre performance can become challenging tasks. To read a menu or programme, I must resort to using my phone to screenshot and zoom in on the text. This is not only inconvenient but also detracts from the overall experience.

It's time for establishments like restaurants, pubs, and theatres to acknowledge this issue and take steps towards inclusivity by providing large print menus and programmes. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 2.2 billion people globally have a vision impairment or blindness; that's nearly one-third of the world's population.

I propose that all such establishments should have at least 5% of their menus or programmes available in large print for people with visual impairments. This small step would make a significant difference in making these venues more accessible for everyone.

Inclusivity should not be optional; it should be standard practice across all sectors of society - including our leisure activities. Join me in urging restaurants, pubs, and theatres to implement this change by signing this petition today!
