Implement Aubreigh's Law for Anti-Bullying Education and Intervention in Schools

Implement Aubreigh's Law for Anti-Bullying Education and Intervention in Schools
The Issue
Aubreigh Wyatt was our light. She was a vibrant, beautiful and charismatic thirteen year old from Mississippi. Loved by all, Aubreigh was everybody's child. She was funny, silly, smart. She had a passion for makeup, music and art. She was a daughter, sister, and friend. She was us; she was you and me.
But on September 4, 2023, Aubreigh took her own life following relentless acts of bullying that went unattended by her school despite her mother's continuous pleas for help. In the midst of these devastating circumstances begins the journey towards Aubreigh's Law - a law that will mandate schools to provide anti-bullying education to school officials and ensure that they are actively involved in situations of bullying, reporting them to parents and local police when physical harm is involved.
According to the National Bullying Prevention Center, one in every five students reports being bullied. This is not just a statistic; it's 20% of our country's future being subjected to mental and physical distress. In more than half of these cases, when bystanders intervene, bullying stops within 10 seconds (U.S Department of Health & Human Services). More effective involvement by school authorities can make the difference in situations like these. It's time for change.
This is a call to honor Aubreigh by preventing future instances of such tragedy, to ensure our children are protected, respected, and cherished, as they should be. Sign this petition today to support the implementation of Aubreigh's Law - for every Aubreigh out there. You can be the change she needed.
