Implement a Three-Way Stop Sign at Finch-Calle De Barcelona Intersection

The Issue

As a local resident and frequent user of the Finch-Calle De Barcelona intersection, I have witnessed the risks and dangers posed by the current traffic control measures, or lack thereof. Too many times, I've seen cars brazenly ignore our crossing guard or rise above the law, even passing with the sign up. We've had children struck by vehicles at this juncture, a heart-stopping experience I've nearly lived myself – not once, but twice. This danger is unacceptable. We demand the implementation of a three-way stop sign. Implementing a three-way stop sign can cut down the number of collisions at this intersection significantly, making things safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers alike.

What's more, adjusting the flow of traffic through improved signage can also motivate individuals to embrace greener means of transport. Encouraging this shift is a win on multiple fronts - not only would walking and bicycling become safer and more viable, but it would also reduce our community’s carbon footprint, contributing to a brighter future for us and next generations.

Our demand is for safety and progressiveness. A crossing guard has proven to be a band-aid solution, not enough to protect all of us, especially during peak hours. A permanent fixture like a three-way stop sign may seem like a small change, but its impact on our lives will be significant.

Join me in calling for this change that will make our intersection safer for all while paving the way towards a greener future. Please sign the petition.
