As residents of our building 33 Isabella court in Toronto, ON, Canada, we are increasingly concerned about the safety of our community. We have many young children who deserve to grow up in a safe environment. Older individuals and young professionals who live alone. These individuals are top targets for home invasions and assault in places such as stairwells. This has become a growing concern among us to keep our building safe. It is not the responsibility of our cleaners to ensure the stairs are free of needles, crack pipes and human waste. And this burden shouldn’t fall upon the superintendent. Yes sometimes this can be a part of the job but at the end of the day this is their home just as much as it is ours! 

Our request is simple but vital - we need a 24-hour security guard presence for the overall safety and wellness of our building and community. According to Statistics Canada (2019), there were over 159,000 reported break-ins across the country that year alone; this figure doesn't even account for unreported incidents or other forms of crime that could be deterred by an on-site security presence.

By implementing this measure, we can help ensure the safety of everyone living here – from families with young children to older individuals living alone or young professionals just starting their careers. We believe that everyone deserves peace-of-mind when it comes to their personal safety at home.
