Temporary 15% Cap on fees charged to restaurants by 3rd Party Food Delivery Apps

The Issue

With enforced lockdowns, loss of business revenue, restrictions on capacity due to social distancing requirements, increased food costs and impending lockdowns the Restaurant and Food Industry has been greatly affected by the Covid 19 Pandemic. We call upon our provincial leader to impose a 15% cap on all fees charged to Restaurants by 3rd Party Delivery apps such as SkipTheDishes, DoorDash, UberEats, etc. If we are put into lockdown again, this decision will impact directly the survival of many of our most loved local food destinations. Most small, local business owners can not afford to create their own apps nor the marketing required to promote them. This is a crucial turning point within the food industry as Covid cases rise and more consumers look to home delivery and want to support local. The extra money going to restaurants bottom line could be what saves them from closure. WE NEED TO ACT NOW... so many people’s livelihoods rely upon this decision.
