The Issue

In a disturbing display of reckless wildlife harassment, U.S. influencer Mike Holston, known as The Real Tarzann, filmed himself wrestling, restraining, and chasing wild crocodiles in Queensland, Australia—and posted the footage to his 15 million followers on Instagram.

This wasn’t conservation.

It wasn’t education.

It was illegal, dangerous, and deeply disrespectful to Australia’s wildlife laws and ecosystems.

Wild crocodiles are not props for viral content. They are powerful, protected animals that deserve to be left undisturbed in their natural habitat. Holston’s actions violated Australian law, risked his own safety, and encouraged copycat behavior that could harm animals, ecosystems, and people.

We, the undersigned, call on the Queensland Department of Environment and Science to issue the maximum legal penalties under conservation law,

The Australian government to consider revoking Holston’s right to film wildlife in the country.

Meta/Instagram to review and remove content that shows or promotes illegal wildlife harassment.

If a random tourist wrestled a crocodile for fun, they’d be fined or deported. Influencers shouldn’t get a pass just because they have followers.
