Hold Rapists Accountable: Sentence Joe Guzman

The Issue

Joe Guzman is charged with TEN counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child (under 13), but today he is sitting in his home.

He sexually assaulted that foster child in his home for over three years, forcing silence with threats about the child's family and coercing silence with a showering of gifts and apologies.

This man has never been sentenced.

This man is not even registered in the State of Illinois or
National Sex Offender Registries.

He was originally indicted on May 23, 2019,
and the case is still open.

His bail was set at $100,000 - however,
Judge Robert "Bob" Adrian reduced his bail to $30,000 just twenty-five days later -
Guzman immediately was able to post 10% to "bond out."

For nearly two years, Judge Adrian allowed this case to drag out with continuations, until ultimately a "Substitution of Judge" motion was filed in April 2021, and now it is being handled by a different judge.

Guzman and his counsel have contended that he should be allowed continuations because of his poor health. We believe, if his poor health did not prevent him from being able to rape children, his poor health should not prevent him from being sentenced for his crimes.

We believe there are more victims than the two children who have spoken out, and these children and families deserve closure.

Joe Guzman should be held accountable for his crimes.
We demand this case be expedited immediately.
