Hold Bunnings accountable for pet safety measures

Hold Bunnings accountable for pet safety measures
The issue
A few days ago, I experienced a heart-wrenching loss. Despite doing everything in our power to protect our beloved puppy, who had received all necessary vaccinations, he tragically succumbed to the deadly virus, parvo. The devastation struck even harder when I discovered that the virus was likely brought into our home unwittingly on work boots worn at a local Bunnings due to employment there.
While Bunnings proudly invites pets into their stores and markets themselves as a pet-friendly establishment, there appears to be a glaring oversight in ensuring the safety of these cherished family members. It is unacceptable that a company that opens its doors to our pets has no concrete measures in place to protect them from potentially deadly viruses. This lack of action has direct consequences, as seen in our tragic experience.
Given the rise of parvovirus, a highly contagious virus that primarily affects dogs, Bunnings needs to take responsibility and implement safety protocols to protect pets and their families. This includes making sure that their premises are sanitized and safe, and that their staff receives adequate training to understand the implications of pathogens like parvo.
To prevent more families from experiencing such pain, we are calling on Bunnings to:
1. Establish strict hygiene protocols and ensure regular sanitization of all areas, particularly those accessible by pets.
2. Educate staff regarding virus prevention measures, such as how diseases like parvo can be transferred on clothing and footwear, and the steps that can be taken to mitigate this risk.
3. Provide signage and informational materials to educate customers about the potential risks to their pets and how to keep them safe.
4. Review and possibly reconsider their open-door policy for pets unless adequate protective measures are in place.
By taking these actions, Bunnings can maintain its pet-friendly ethos while ensuring the safety of all furry visitors and the humans who love them. I urge Bunnings to recognise their responsibility in safeguarding pet health and to act swiftly to prevent further tragedies like ours.
Please beaware , you dont even need to take your dog there, with unsanitary floors you can take pathogens home with on your shoes, then it can contaminat your car, now your driveway, and its waiting to go inside to your family.. this could be a serious hotspot for pathogens, how would the world react if it were humans that it affected?
Please join me in demanding accountability and necessary changes at Bunnings to protect our beloved pets and keep them safe. Sign this petition today to make a difference.
