From the heart of Sydney, we, members of the Moroccan Cultural Club, proudly representing the Moroccan community in Australia, share our deep concerns over the offensive remarks made by an Algerian journalist  named"mahdi ghazar about our people. This incident has risen far beyond individual disagreement, spiralling into a direct affront to our dignity, values and national pride. We firmly believe that everyone has the right to express their opinion, however, this sentiment should not come at the cost of demeaning a nation.

Recent surveys indicate a dramatic rise in the number of hate speech incidents, with a reported increase the last years (source: Global Hate Speech Index). The aim of our petition is to bring to light the impact of such careless remarks and to demand accountability from those who misuse the power of speech to insult and belittle an entire nation.

Coming from a community that cherishes the principles of respect, dignity, and cohabitation, we strongly condemn any form of hate speech. Our beloved Morocco, known for its cultural diversity and hospitality, deserves to maintain its well-earned respect on the global stage.

Therefore, we call for the appropriate authorities to investigate and address this issue, ensuring the Algerian journalist is held accountable for his disparaging remarks about the Moroccan people. We urge everyone who respects human rights, dignity, and the values of unity to sign this petition. Let us stand together against hate speech in all its forms.
