This petition is to put forward a complaint for PJR401B lecturer's request for a reassessment. It has come to our attention that the lecturer request a reassessment due to an alleged plagiarism.
1. As an experienced lecturer, the consequences and risks involved in setting up such an assessment were apparent to him yet he ignored them.
2. Online tests have been written before and other Lecturers have taken proper measures to ensure that the paper is not the same and that start and finish time is the same for all.
3. Majority of the students have requested study leave for the previous test. A reassessment so soon is not only a disadvantage to our employees but poses a risk of incompetence to our work duties as well, we need not emphasize that it is towards the end of the year, nearing shutdown for many plants and deadlines need to be met.
4. This also comes as short notice to our employees as by 5pm on the 19th no employee letter has been sent, yet we're expected to write a reassessment on the 23rd.
5. The suggested computer lab is not a conducive environment given the current COVID-19 regulations. Given the number of students the venue cannot accommodate all students with social distancing protocols observed and if the assessment is done in groups the lecturer poses the same risk of plagiarism.

It is therefore for the above reasons that we reject the request or demand for a reassessment and
refuse to be held accountable for the lecturer's ignorance. We rightfully ask the Department management to take our education seriously and this to show through the planning of curriculum and assessments.
