Agency workers face tax exploitation due to different agencies requiring workers to register with their own umbrella companies. So if you are registered with 3 different agencies, your income looks as though you have 3 different jobs where as, you do not. The implication is that this messes up your tax code, HMRC puts you on higher tax code, deducts more money from you, this affects your household income. The Government and HMRC should mandate that once you are registered with an umbrella Company, the company should do all your tax irrespective of which agency you use. This will stop HMRC messing about with people’s household income.

We are all agency workers working hard to fill gaps both in the NHS and elsewhere and to think that the Government and HMRC would turn blind eye to this type of exploitation makes one wonder if they are benefiting from this Umbrella company business. 

Please all agency workers both in healthcare and in all fields, need to speak with one voice and say ‘STOP’ to multiple umbrella companies registration. #ourfamilyincomematters.
