Today we had a Show of Support for Alex outside Medivet.
We purposely had a small group so that access to the nearby Fire Station didn't get blocked.
It so happened that the Medivet Management arrived and it would be an understatement to say they were surprised to see us.
One of the mangers was the person who had infiltrated our Support Alex facebook page. I don’t think she was their to support Alex? This same lady had the audacity to post on Linkedin, a party she attended with her, quote, "Incredible team" 5 days after they "suspended Alex". They are heartless these scoundrels.
They were there to brief the staff without even letting our vet Alex know. How do you think Alex feels about this? It’s HIS practice and HIS Staff.
They locked their doors and pet owners and their pets had to wait outside in the rain and ring the bell to get in.
The last pet owner who had an elderly Rhodesian Ridgeback asked us to help get the dog out of her car as he was really weak in his leg muscles.
This poor lady and her dog waited ringing the bell for 20 minutes and nobody even bothered to let her in. A member of our group phoned the practice and it was an anwerphone message saying that the practice was closed between 2 and 4pm and anyone needing care should go to the Medivet practice in Edenbridge. This lady had an appointment!
The poor dog had to stand for 20 minutes when the lady eventually had to phone the Edenbridge practice which is miles away. We had to help the dog back into the car he was so weak. It's an absolute disgrace.
This poor lady with her dog was in front of, ironically, a logo saying “For Very Important Pets”. Shame on you Medivet.
Also on the door “Always There”, “Open 24 hours 365 days a year”
Where were you Medivet? Strutting your “excellent teamwork” inside, with the poor traumatised staff who want their beloved vet back?
There was no care at the practice for our community even if those that wanted to go there needed to.
A few days ago, two elderly people found an injured Fox Cub and to it to the practice in Forest Row late at night. Alex our vet was always on call to help wildlife.
They were greeted by an aggressive night vet who was a locum who proceeded to tell them they don't look after wildlife (as there's no money in it for them!) took the Fox Cub that was bundled up in a blanket and said they were going to put it to sleep immediately. The two elderly people were left distraught and traumatised.
Another member of our community took her dogs there a few days ago and was issued a prescription by a locum vet that said to take ONE tablet ONCE a day. The pet owner thought this was strange and in getting home, googled this and it said to take ONE tablet ONCE a MONTH. She phoned and queried this and was told that they didn't have any record of the prescription on their system and asked her to return the prescription as soon as possible. Hmmm. The owner has decided to keep the prescription and has reported the Medivet Forest Row practice to the RCVS for negligence and endangering the safety of her pet.
This disgraceful saga is now getting out of hand.
Shame on you Medivet.
We want you OUT of Forest Row and our beloved vet, Alex back.
