The Issue

Mikey was more than just a brother; he was the heart of our family. He always made sure that my brother Brandon and I were taken care of and protected. His love for his daughter and family was fierce, and he would have done anything to support anyone in need. His life was cut short six years ago over something as trivial as a college football game between Alabama and LSU. He didn't deserve to have his life ended, especially by someone he considered a friend.

Since Mikey's tragic murder, our family has been on a difficult journey seeking justice. It’s been six years since his passing and four years since his murderer, was sentenced to a minimum of 20 years for first-degree murder with a deadly weapon. Despite the gravity of this crime, there are now talks of his potential release due to a family emergency. This is not just unfair; it's an affront to justice and a wound reopened for our grieving family.

Releasing him undermines the justice system’s commitment to holding individuals accountable for their actions, especially actions as heinous as murder. The severity of taking someone's life must be matched with a suitable consequence. It must be clear that such actions have lasting repercussions and that justice needs to be served.

We urge the judicial authorities to reconsider any attempts to release him before he serves his full sentence. A life taken so brutally deserves justice that is unwavering and steadfast. Mikey’s laughter, love, and life were stolen, and justice must honor the memory of what he was to his family and friends.

We ask you to stand with our family in demanding that justice remains steadfast and that mikey’s killer serves his full sentence. Please sign this petition to support our pursuit of justice for Mikey and ensure his tragic story reminds everyone of the importance of a fair and just system that upholds its sentences for the safety and peace of all affected families.
