BSL is a very uneffective way to solve dog aggression. They believe that this will solve it by getting rid of the breeds they believe to be aggressive. That is just the thing though, because not all of the dogs in that breed are aggressive. It is known that any dog has the potential of being aggressive and dangerous. The main cause of an aggressive dog is the owner. When an owner neglects their dog, abuses them, used them to fight, or uses them as bait for fighting dogs, the dog will start to become more aggressive out of instinct. Some dogs can be mean naturally, but most are not. The most known to people because of what they've heard is the American Staffshire Terrier, or Pit Bull. It is said that attacks that happen most are from Pit bulls, but no one seems to look at the bigger picture and they concentrait only on the dog. This is where people make mistakes about different breeds. Look at Denver and what they did. They not only euthanized adults, but also puppies because of BSL. It was like a canine version of the holocaust. They took family pets and put them down because of the type of breed they were, mixed or pure bred.The list of so called dangerous dogs keeps growing and if we don't do something about this soon, we will no longer be able to own dogs period because every dog will be on the list. The reason for this petition is to stop BSL and the killing of all the innocent dogs that are part of this. They've helped us for so long, now it's our turn to help them.
