Due to a shortage of doctors, the Woombye Clinic has changed from being open 5 days a week with 2 doctors to opening 2 days a week with 1 doctor. We have tried to attract new doctors advertising extensively and utilising recruitment agencies. Unless new doctors can be found urgently, we will have no choice but to close permanently.

The closure of the Woombye Clinic would be devastating to the local community. Due to new housing developments, there has been significant growth in the population with young families moving to the area. There is still a significant elderly population in the Woombye area who require close access to a medical centre. For 30 years, our clinic has provided essential continuous care and any disruption to this service would be detrimental to our elderly patients. The need for a medical centre in Woombye has never been more urgent.

We are asking Workforce Queensland for their help to change the Woombye Clinic to a Distribution Priority Area to enable us to attract new doctors.
