Help invest in our community playground: Keevil Drive, SW19
The Issue
Our local community playground has been a central part of our neighbourhood for years. Every day, it serves countless children, offering a space for play, creativity, and connection. It’s more than just a playground; it’s a hub of laughter, learning, and community spirit, essential for the healthy development of our children.
Despite its importance, the playground is in desperate need of investment and maintenance. The equipment is aging, safety standards require updates, and the grounds could benefit from improvements to keep it inviting and secure. As parents, caregivers, and community members, we see firsthand how vital this space is for the wellbeing and happiness of our children.
Studies have consistently shown that play is crucial for a child’s cognitive, emotional, and physical development. According to the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) children need a variety of physical activities to support their growth, and local playgrounds play a pivotal role in providing these opportunities. Additionally, a well-maintained playground can reduce the risk of injuries, which are a common concern for parents.
With the right level of investment, we envision a revitalised playground with modern and safer equipment, improved accessibility for children with disabilities, and enhanced features that cater to a wide range of age groups. This would not only benefit the children but also strengthen community ties by providing a welcoming space for families to gather.
There are a number of local primary schools which use the playground, including a school for children with severe physical disabilities and children with SEND. We believe if we work together we can petition the council for much needed investment in our community.
We ask for your support with urging local authorities to allocate funds necessary for these upgrades. Investing in our playground is investing in the future of our community's children. Your signature can help make this vision a reality, ensuring a safer and more joyful environment for all.
Please sign this petition to show your support and help us create a better playground for our children.
