My name is Cadence Harper and I am a 16 year old competitive figure skater from Craigavon. I have been figure skating for almost two years. Throughout my journey, I have been coached by Edward Alton, however swapped coaches to Maria Filipov and Phil Walsh who are my current coaches — Maria had starred on Dancing on Ice multiple times. 

For me, as a girl from Craigavon, I have to wake up on skating mornings at 4am and leave the house for 5.20am to make it to the rink by 6.30, this should not be the case for me and multiple other figure skaters. 

I have decided to make this petition to help raise this issue and bring an ice rink to Craigavon!

Firstly, Craigavon is pretty central and easy to get to as it is very close to motorways and not as far as Dundonald for many skaters. Secondly, this rink would bring in a huge sum of money and alongside this would also contribute to the modernisation of Craigavon, as we have seen it develop hugely throughout the previous years!

Not to mention, it would also help many young people find a hobby and maybe even something that they become passionate about. Figure skating is a dream of many young girls.. yet they cannot accomplish this dream due to how far away Dundonald is. Many leisure complexes in England and Scotland have them, why not ours?
