We the undersigned petition and respectfully ask the HHS Secretary and you our Representative to increase the food stamps and SSI benefits for the poor and disadvantaged to meet the increase in grocery and gas prices. Gas and grocery prices are at an all time high while the increase in benefits have failed to keep up. The increase in benefits in the stimulus was a good start but has failed to meet the price increases. Studies show that increasing these benefits directly stimulates the economy in a positive way, so an increase in benefits is good for the poor and good for the economy.
