The performing arts are an integral part of the high school experience. They provide an outlet for expression and a welcoming space for students everywhere. At Hathaway Brown, there were many classes in the Theatre, Dance, and Music departments but there have been decisions made to take away more than half of those courses. These classes provide events throughout the year for our entire school wide body, and are some of the most important courses in the high school. The classes being cut are:

Improvisation

Black Box Ensemble

Black Box Ensemble Honors

Music Theory for Singers

Advanced Songwriting

Advanced Technical Theatre

Choreography and Composition 

Dance Ensemble

Dance Ensemble Honors

These decisions have been made without consulting the students, and without explanation. The students of Hathaway Brown believe that this is incredibly unfair and unprecedented, and request to get these classes back. Sign to help high school students have a safe place for expression and to give these students a bright future in the arts.
