A FAIR HARD WASTE SERVICE FOR CLARENCE
PETITION TO CLARENCE CITY COUNCIL
Tip Vouchers for All Residents — Collection Support for Those Who Need It

To the Mayor and Councillors of Clarence City Council

We, the undersigned residents and ratepayers of the City of Clarence, call on Clarence City Council to provide a fair, practical and accessible hard waste service for our community.

Following the cessation of Council's previous hard waste collection service, there continues to be strong community support for Council to provide residents with assistance to responsibly dispose of larger household items.

An independent community survey conducted in 2024 by Deputy Mayor Allison Ritchie received 1,680 responses, with:

94.5% supporting the return of a hard waste collection service;
90.5% saying they were very likely to use such a service, and
59% supporting the cost of a hard waste service being shared across ratepayers.

The survey demonstrated that Clarence residents want Council to provide a practical hard waste solution.

WE THEREFORE PETITION CLARENCE CITY COUNCIL TO:

1. Provide annual Tip Vouchers to all eligible Clarence households, enabling residents to dispose of an appropriate quantity of hard waste at local waste facilities without an additional disposal charge; and

2. Provide an accessible booked hard waste collection service for residents who are unable to reasonably use Tip Vouchers, including seniors, people with disability, people with limited mobility and other residents who do not have reasonable means of transporting hard waste to a waste facility.

We believe this combined approach would provide residents with greater choice while ensuring that people who cannot transport hard waste themselves are not disadvantaged.

A fair hard waste service should be accessible, practical and available to all Clarence residents.
