Hands Off Tauranga Domain and Baypark Speedway

Hands Off Tauranga Domain and Baypark Speedway
The issue
Time is fast approaching and it is believed that the 'business case' for the Tauranga Domain 'Boutique Stadium' which will also affect Blake Park,Mt Maunganui and Bay Park will be presented to the TCC meeting of3rd April 2023.
So there is only a short time to act and protest through this petition to let Priority One,The Tauranga City Council and the four Commissioners appointed to administer the TCC that the citizens of Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty do not want to see the last large, open, green space in the central city, Tauranga Domain, which is open to a number of sporting codes, especially the Millenium Athletic Track,Croquet Club and Tennis Club who have their playing facilities and clubrooms there, altered or removed altogether so a 'boutique stadium' too small to host Super 15 rugby games. It is touted by the developers that exhibitions, conferences and outdoor concerts will be held in the new 'boutique stadium' but their projections of attendances etc published and held by TCC are unsubstainiated both from an attendance projection as well as numbers of conferences etc and promotors of concerts are happy with where their annual concerts are held already in open spaces where people who attend are not restricted to seating to attend.
The TCC through Bay Venues Ltd already run and manage 16000sq mtrs of exhibition space at TrustPower Stadium at BayPark so why duplicate space and that doesn't take into account what the downtown city precinct, yet to be built, will also offer.
Further as part of the Reserves Masterplan Baypark Speedway is to be removed from their current stadium site at Baypark by TCC with no offer to find them a relocation for their sport and nor will they pay for their re-establishment costs if a new site could be located to their agreement.Speedway operates through the spring and summer months and regularly draws 6000-8000 people per meeting with many people coming from out of the city bringing in positive financial help to the city economy through accommodation and services they buy.The arrogance of the TCC Commissioners needs to be held to account and by signing this petition you will be letting the four Commissioners know your displeasure and put them on notice of the publics feelings.
Please be aware that you may be asked to donate money towards this petition cause. Please note any money you donate on this click on goes to the organiser of this website change.org who do allow organisations such as ourselves to put this petition at no cost to ourselves. Please refer to our website handsofftaurangadomain.org and enquire into a Bank account for a donation directly to the cause. The website has an online survey which collects your opinion about the Stadium proposal. This is the survey that the TCC will not send out. Please take part in this as well.Thank you
