Halt UK Government's Introduction of Road Tax on Electric Vehicles

Halt UK Government's Introduction of Road Tax on Electric Vehicles
The Issue
I am among thousands of Electric Vehicle (EV) owners across the UK who are deeply concerned by the government's proposition to introduce Vehicle Excise Duty (VED), more commonly known as Road Tax, on environment-friendly electric vehicles from April next year. Many of us acquired EVs as an investment in our planet's future, to protect against climate change and to play our part in building a greener, healthier environment.
This initiative is emblematic of a regressive decision and represents a major disincentive. We fear it could potentially dissuade future buyers from choosing electric vehicles over their gas-powered counterparts. The rapid shift towards EVs we have been experiencing in recent years is likely to be impeded, slowing down our progress towards combatting climate change. Last year alone saw a remarkable 180% rise in EV registrations in the UK (source: SMMT), demonstrating the massive strides we are making towards a cleaner and greener future.
We insist that the government revises this decision, considering the broader impact on the environment and the UK's clean energy goals. Please withhold the introduction of VED on EVs and continue to encourage the transition to a more sustainable future. Join us in calling for a halt to this ill-conceived policy change.
