I speak on a deeply personal level when I implore you to halt the proposed 2025 project by Donald Trump. Trump wants to ban the scientists on researching the climate(ex. global warming) and environmental activists or researches that protect and learn about the environment. The project stands to do irreversible harm both to our environment and to civil liberties, specifically those of freedom of expression. Our wildlife is a crucial element of the intricate ecosystem which sustains life on Earth. Experts have warned that this project could result in a devastating loss of wildlife, altering our ecosystem in untold and unforeseeable ways. Concurrently, the effects of this project on our civil liberties, particularly freedom of speech, are equally alarming. Freedom of speech underpins the democratic values of open, transparent and accountable governance. Its curtailment is synonymous with the erosion of democracy and undermines the empowerment of citizens. We implore policymakers at all levels to act decisively to stop Trump’s proposed 2025 project. This course of action is not only justified by the potential for environmental and democratic calamity but is also demanded by the value we place on wildlife and civil liberties.
