My concern is personal as I have witnessed the devastating effects funding cuts have on people. Without sufficient aid from the United States, individuals in need across the world stand to suffer. US foreign aid, distributed mainly through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), plays a critical role in poverty reduction, disaster relief, and promoting democracy.

Yet, there have been severe cuts to USAID in recent years. Significant reductions in US Aid funds drastically impact the livelihoods and survival of underprivileged populations worldwide. According to the 2020 United States Budget Historical Tables, USAID's budget has declined by approximately 21% since 2018.

These cuts mean fewer resources for education, health, and food security initiatives in countries relying heavily on foreign aid. In essence, continuous reduction in US Aid implies less help for those most in need, giving rise to potential crises.

People are at the heart of my petition. Every day, I see the hardship endured by those affected by lack of resources. Their struggle highlights the urgency and importance of maintaining, if not increasing, the funds allocated for US Aid.
