The Issue

We are a community deeply rooted in our peace, our lands, and the natural resources around us. The Broad River is one of those irreplaceable resources. A community cornerstone, the Broad River, already endures the strain of a delicate ecosystem. Our appreciation of its beauty and understanding of its frailty has led us to understand that the introduction of a one million gallon per day rendering plant is not just detrimental but catastrophic. This plant's operation would deplete the river and rob our ecosystem of its life-blood, causing a ripple effect on the species and natural balance that depends on it.

Proposed on our lands, this plant threatens more than just our homes. It threatens the lifelines of family farms that have been our heritage for generations. The imminent pollution, an unavoidable consequence of rendering plants, looms over our heads as a menace to both our livelihoods and our deeply cherished bonds with these lands.

We must not sacrifice our ecosystem, our heritage, and our very futures for short-term economic benefits. Stand with us as we seek sustainable alternatives that will not jeopardize the wellness of our environment and our community. Please sign this petition and help protect the Broad River from potentially irreversible damage.
