This petition speaks from a place of personal experience as my family and I face the potential disruption of our tranquil home life in the Landings of Riverbend, Sanford. The proposed apartment complex, right behind our homes along route 46 and Beardall Ave, threatens not just the peace and serenity that we currently enjoy, but also the safety of our community. We have three dogs whose lives will be disrupted by the incessant noise, as well as the view for us and our neighbors will be taken away in our own backyards. Moreover, the apartment complex, with its numerous units, does not account for adequate parking, creating a potential hazard on Route 46. 

According to a study by the Urban Institute, dense residential developments without sufficient parking provisions can induce parking spillover into nearby roads, causing congestion, dangerous driving conditions, and even potential accidents. As the local community, we attest that Route 46, which is already strained in its capacity, cannot safely accommodate this proposed increase in parked vehicles and traffic.

Instead of an overwhelming apartment complex, we propose that the City of Sanford consider the development of businesses in the area, which would not only serve the community but also contribute positively to local economy. With this petition, we implore the city of Sanford to revise their plan, consider our suggested alternatives, and protect the safety and quality of life of its residents.
