As a taxpayer living in Canada, I, like many fellow Canadians, feel heavily taxed. Every year, countless dollars are collected from our hard-earned money to serve different purposes. However, it feels wrong that our tax money goes as financial support to Ukraine, especially given that our Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, has resigned. This association seems distant and unaligned with our immediate needs and priorities.

As per the reports, Canada has provided more than $785 million in multifaceted support to Ukraine since 2014 (source: Government of Canada). While international aid can be a noble cause, we, as Canadians, should have a say where our tax dollars are headed. We yearn for this money to be dedicated to helping us here in Canada, perhaps in sectors that direly need improvement, such as education, healthcare, or even reducing the considerable burden of taxation.

This petition is aimed towards our governing bodies, imploring them to halt the financial support to Ukraine and instead, repurpose this substantial sum to uphold and enhance the living standards of fellow Canadians.
