Extension of 2020 UIL competition for high school students

2020 graduating senior athletes and other 2020 UIL participants’ sports and/or events have been on hold and/or cancelled.  

These hard-working students have not been allowed to compete nor complete their regular season of competition(s).

Some of the students are relying on their performance in competition to hopefully advance them into their collegiate careers.

Advancement via scholarship and/or placement in a chosen undergraduate school; academically or athletically, through UIL competition is a possibility for some of these graduating 2020 Texas seniors. 

The NCAA has extended collegiate seniors’ eligibility for one more year.  This is a fantastic move and a wonderful gesture. However; this does not and cannot apply for high school kids.

This is their last chance. With a full and sincere heart, please do not take this opportunity from them. I’m asking wholeheartedly for you to allow an extension for all 2020 Texas UIL competition of regular season and UIL playoff rounds. 

As a parent of a graduating senior, I am asking for the State of Texas to please and kindly extend regular season for baseball and other UIL events. 

 These kids have worked their whole lives and ‘bled’ for their schools to get to this point in their Texas UIL careers. 

Help these young Texans make some good memories apart from this horrible and terrible national situation.
