Stop the Relocation of Families During Exam Season

Stop the Relocation of Families During Exam Season
The Issue
Thousands of students in Greenwich borough have been subject to relocation during exam season. My name is Banu Hammad and I, personally, have been an example of this. Despite bidding for council housing for 5 years, I was legally declared homeless along with my family, and we fell into the system.
With 4 months to go until the beginning of my GCSE exams, my family and I were relocated to Woking, Surrey from Eltham, London in December, 2014.
The house itself was in a wholly unfit condition for living with broken appliances and faulty heating systems.
We were inclined to sleep without heating for the first night during December's winter. We were also ensured that it would not be required for us to bring bedding with us to the property. Upon our arrival, a scarcity of bedding was evident. Hence, we were freezing through the night.
This was very difficult for us as the move required us to travel sixty miles to school by car, everyday at five o clock in the morning. My dad lost his job as he was burdened by taking us to school, bringing us home and heading back to London for work. This resulted in unpunctuality and dismissal.
A financial and educational strain was placed on my family.
By the time that my brother and I arrived back at Woking in the evenings, there was no time for us to complete our school work. We lived at Woking for 2 weeks and were relocated to Erith, Kent as a temporary accommodation property.
Now, during the finale period of my exams, we are being relocated again. I worry for the outcome of my results in August due to this constant, inconsiderate relocation.
With educational standards reaching an ever-towering mark, it is becoming increasingly difficult for my cohort to enrol in further education. Please support this petition to put an end to this inconsiderate action taken against families in need of housing.
