Grant the vote for London Mayor to ALL UK Residents

Grant the vote for London Mayor to ALL UK Residents
The Issue
London, our Capital City belongs to every man, woman and child throughout the United Kingdom. Not only is it our largest city, it's wider metropolitan area is the largest in Western Europe and it is one of the most influential cities across the globe. As such all UK residents should have a say as to who holds the position of Chief Executive (i.e. Mayor) of the Greater London Authority.
As one of the world's major global cities, London exerts a strong influence on world art, entertainment, fashion, commerce, finance, education, healthcare, media, science, technology, tourism, transport, and communications. And London remains a European economic powerhouse and one of the world's major financial centres.
As it stands only people who are resident at an address in Greater London are allowed to vote for candidates in the Mayoral elections, but how does that reflect the wishes of those outside of London...it doesn't. London carries so much influence across the globe and the majority of UK residents have no say as to who they would wish to be head of our great city, and we should.
The position of London Mayor is very different to the position of Mayor of any other town, borough or city in that London is our Capital and as such influences us all across the UK. For example, the position of Lord Mayor of Newcastle is a position held since the 13th Century and voted for by the people of Newcastle and as such this is the correct approach as the good people of Newcastle should be the ones to choose their Mayor to carry our Civic duties in and around Newcastle for the people of Newcastle as the position in this instance affects their area only and it would be pointless to allow a resident of Bristol to vote for the Mayor of Newcastle. However London is a very different proposition.
London is a jewel in the crown of World cities (or at least was) and how it is governed and how it 'behaves' affects us all in the UK. As said, this is our Capital City and it belongs to us all... Newcastle for the Geordies, but London FOR ALL.
As it stands London has a diverse culture encompassing over 300 different languages and with c.40%+ of residents having been born abroad and these diverse cultures who live there should of course be able to vote for their Mayor, but unlike the example of Newcastle used above, London belongs to all the UK and all UK residents should have a say as to who 'heads up' OUR capital city and how it is run.
I would like to propose that the voting system to choose the Mayor of our Capital city should be changed to encompass the wishes of the entire country...London is so very different to all other towns, boroughs or cities and it does after all belong to all UK residents and we should be included in choosing it's leader.
Thankyou for reading.
